Tiles

 

I received a call from the tiler last Friday suggesting we meet up to discuss the layout of our tiles. He felt the lay out we had initially picked wasn't going to look all that great due to the slight difference in size of the two tiles - a whole 2mm !! Upon much deliberation and some good advice, we opted to have them laid horizontally, upon the tilers recommendation. We are very happy with the result.

Cabinetry installed and painting on the go

Our cabinetry has been installed , and I'm really happy with my colour choices. Unfortunately the cabinet makers have given me the wrong drawer fronts, new ones have been ordered , just a waiting game now. Also painters are in, and are doing a wonderful job.

 

We have gone for Dulux White Duck half strength on the walls.

 

 

                            

Our drawer fronts are meant to be individual profiles, not forming a single panel if that makes sense. We have gone Cashmere in Vinyl Wrap with Organic White Caesarstone. I like the colour combo.

 

We still have overhead glass fronted cupboard doors and splashback to be installed.  

Oh Shit !!!

Yep, I could think of nothing more fitting for the title of todays post. Everything up to this point has been running very smoothly, had to be too good to last. SS contacted me today to inform me of our plumbing problems. Turns out our sewerage tie on our property is about 900mm to high for us to connect to. They are trying to get Yarra Valley Water to admit fault and fix the problem, worse case scenario we will have to install a pump system.  You know the age old saying " Shit doesn't run up hill ." So we may be up that well known creek !!! Fingers, crossed.  

It's been a while ...

It's been quite some time since I've written here. I have been meaning to, but you know how it is, life just gets in the way some times.
 From my son breaking his finger, with on going hospital appointments, to us losing Taz, our furry feline buddy of 12 yrs.

On a brighter note, we adopted little Scout, a ginger kitty, who was abandoned in a box on the side of the road, and we have a new addition to our family on his way in 2 days. Zeus, a Bengal Kitten. We are all very excited.

The house is coming along in leaps and bounds, so much has progress has been made !!

 

 

 

                                     

Frame was completed in a little under 2 weeks. Mick who is a chippie by trade was impressed with the workman ship.

 

Roof tiles are on, timber windows are stained, plaster has been hung and our bricks are nearly all laid. Loving the over all look and our drive under portico. So exciting !!!  



The work has begun ....

Finally after what has seemed like months of paper work and contracts and signatures, we have finally gone to site ..
Site start commenced on Monday 21st April and is moving along quite nicely.

The temporary fencing has gone up. But hang on , the pegs are on the outside of the fence !!!

                 The site cut. Apparently one of the escavators asked if there were units being built... yesss, the Denver 43 is a large house !!!

After spending many weekends travelling to see our land, and getting the same response from the kids " Do we have to go to the block again?" They are finally getting excited and enjoying the trips !!!

 

 

The SS has informed me that the boxing of the slab will commence this week .

 

 

The slab is finally poured... moving along very nicely.  

Tuscan Style

 

I can't get enough of Tuscan design at the moment. I've spent hours googling all things Tuscan !!!

Just love this area. From the stone buildings to the old style garage doors !!! Unfortunately, due to fire restrictions, the timber garage doors were a no go for us. Of course they were nothing as spectacular as these, but they would have looked amazing. Had to stick with good old colorbond in paperbark. Something I'm still trying to come to terms with....

 

The beams and the lighting really caught my eye in this picture. Very extravagant, but still quite warm and homely at the same time.

 

So serene.  

Colours and Contracts !!!

It has taken us roughly 6 months to get to final contract stage.

From meetings with our Metricon home consultant Jo, to colour selection with Lina, and plan alterations with Dzenana.  I would like to add that these women are fantastic at what they do and at this point our Metricon experience has been great !!!

 

FINGERS CROSSED IT STAYS THAT WAY !!!

 

This is the Denver 43 traditional which I have borrowed from the Metricon Website, I must admit we have made a few changes to ours which i'll be sure to post in the months ahead. 

 

 

Our external colour scheme. Choosing my external colours was a nightmare as we were limited by Hidden Valley with our colour choices due to the covenants. I wanted a look that gave the impression of an old style Tuscan home. I never thought it would be so difficult !!!  I might add, that this is our second range of colours as our first was knocked back. What's an extra $8,000 in brick and roof tile upgrades anyway ????

A Patch Of Land

   So Mick and I decided it was time to get out of  suburbia and find somewhere with open space. Somewhere that wasn't too far away from where we were currently living.

   After going for a leisurely Sunday drive into Hidden Valley, Mick was blown away by it's beauty and open space. I had previously owned land here, so already knew how gorgeous it was !!

We loved it's Tuscan theme.

A few months later we were proud owners of three and a quarter acres, and in the same street as my old block of land !!!
